I work collaboratively with clients to provide services that are sensitive to their needs and circumstances. Using expertise in psychological treatment, education, health promotion, spiritual care-giving, and group dynamics, I am able to offer a range of options for meeting individual goals. I offer individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, marriage counseling, group therapy, workshops, and services for other counselors. I also provide free educational resources on various psychological and mental health topics.
There can be many explanations for your current difficulties. Using psychodynamic techniques, our conversations in individual therapy may help us explore ways that early life experiences and relationships influence your present mood and behavior. We may also utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques to expose thought patterns or behaviors that get in the way. Therapy can be short term and solution-focused or it can be long-term; together, we decide. My goal is to help people uncover their personal pathway toward a healthier and more satisfying life.
All families have times of conflict. When one person experiences change or emotional distress, it affects other family members. Family therapy can help with improving skills in areas such as communication and problem-solving. This is also true in couples counseling, where relationship effectiveness can also be improved with a process-oriented interpersonal approach — a focus on the “here and now” experiences in relationships and how a couple is attached to each other.
I provide premarital counseling using the PREPARE program and marriage counseling using the ENRICH program. I am dedicated to helping people create and sustain loving, nurturing relationships.
I provide therapy, process-oriented clinical supervision, and consultations for established therapists, counseling psychology students, and trainees who are working toward the PA Licensed Professional Counselor credential. Therapy for therapists is discreet, mutually respectful assistance with the counselor’s personal issues that may arise in doing counseling work. Clinical supervision is focused on counseling technique and countertransference issues. My goal is to build the profession of counseling by building professional counselors.
A variety of programs, both educational and experiential, are available and can be customized as needed. Examples include:
