People come to see me when they feel stuck, dissatisfied, overwhelmed or indecisive and are ready for a professional perspective. They have already taken first step toward growth and change by realizing that there is a “problem” and deciding to talk about it.
We live in a busy and stressful world. These days we are being asked to work longer and harder, both at work and at home. This can put a strain on our relationships, interfere with our capacity to rest and recover, or cause us to lose sight of our goals.
Other challenges to our well-being can occur during life passages such as: birth, death, marriage, divorce, relocation, job change, and aging. Although these transitions often promote personal growth - improved relationships, enhanced self-knowledge, or a greater appreciation for life - emotional difficulties during these times are inescapable facts of life for most people.
Everyone experiences family, work, or personal problems that affect their well-being. They may become dispirited, overwhelmed, stuck or chronically worried. Unfortunately, many people see an emotional health problem as a sign of weakness.
One of my specialties is working with people who nurture others - such as parents, teachers, clergy, medical professionals, and therapists. Caregivers have unique needs - a sensitive, empathetic, non-judgmental listener who balances wisdom and guidance with respect and compassion. If you have a passion for helping others, I have a passion for helping you.
I am considered a "Counselor's Counselor," providing therapy, clinical supervision, and consultation for other counseling professionals and counselors seeking state licensure.
